Christmas time in Cattolica!!!

Hello everybody, it is nearly Christmas time and celebrations are round the corner...so they say! I would like to wish a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year. Even though we are having a time of difficulty for the all of Europe Italy included, we have tried to give the people who still comes and spends Christmas with us in Cattolica a spot of light and dream. During Festivities we all try to forget our small or big problems and smile to the New Year and Christmas Day. We often forget the importance of Christmas, and it is good to remeber the meaning of it: peace, love, friendship (the real one) and to care for each other, this is what every Christmas, on Christmas night each year we celebrate when Gesus borns. Christmas more than other times is a time for sharing what we are and who we are together we the ones we love!!! That is why we have made Cattolica with a special Christmases mood, so we hope!!! We have closed in a ball the fountins by Piazza Primo Maggio, just like a Christmas ball and you can watch inside and see like a different world a better one...and all the little Christmas trees around it... the streets are all light up with Christmas lights, the little houses in the main center viale bovio where you can sample our traditions and at the same time buy little gifts, there is a beautiful ice ring by Piazza Mercato where kids and adults (mostly) can skate, a beautiful wheel by the council where you can see the top of Cattolica, last but not least the council all light up and in front the massive Christmas tree all decorated where the night of Christmas after the mass we will all meet to celebrte and wish everybody a great Merry Christmas. Christmas Carols will be sung all over the main areas of Cattolica by the coir of the Regina....so there is somenthing for everybody!

DINNNER ALL TOGETHER CUSTOMER'S & STAFF

For the last day of the season in October we have decided customers and staff to have the last dinner all together downstair in the hall!!! it was a very nice evening, were italian were mixing with english people, chatting about everything and enjoying the pizza because that is what we had!!! with wine of course.... it is nice when customers who I consider friends become part of the family of the hotel because all my staff is more than staff they are part of the big hotel Senior family were culture, different nationalaties blend together in a very special way! That is one of the reason why i love my job, meeting people, seeing people over and over again, knowing and remembering waht they like knowing the family and friends. That is why when the time comes to say goodbye it becomes difficult! For this meal even my mother who now comes very little to the hotel due to health reasons, was there with us, and many of my staff who now don't work with us no more because they have retired they were all there, I have grown up with these people and it is a lovely feeling to share together what we have!
Here some picture of the nice evening we had all together!!!

"SIC.....thanks"

Today at 3pm there was in Coriano the funeral of Marco Simoncelli. I don't like going to funerals, but this one it was defenetly a different one, not for the ammount of people 60,000 there wasn't enough place in Coriano for all of them that is why the circuit of Misano has setted up big screens Tv for everybody else! but it did not seem a sad funeral it is difficult to explain it was more like a special party for Marco because it was magical if I am allowed to say. The atmosphere was so deep and full of memories of all his achievements not only as a biker, but as a human beeing, as the lovely person he was, a caring one towards everybody. He has brought a smile into his job a big smile, like his family today: Rossella the mum, who until an hour before the funeral was welcoming everybody at home with coffe and pastries, Paolo the father who was always next to him in the races, his lovely sister Martina and his girlfriend kate, have showed to all the world that Marco would have not wanted any tears just smiles from everybody, and that is what they have passed on to every single person today.
Even the bishop of Rimini Lambiasi had some really nice words today in his speech, not the usual words that you would expect from a priest, he was one of us too. Every single person today felt part of a bigger family (the one of the fans, of the team, of the friends, of the racers, of the school, of the neiboughrs, the blood family, every body from overseas all together, we were all one thing, we were there for the same reason to pay our tribute and respect to Marco). When they were taking the coffin outside his good friend Valentino pushed Marco's bike outside the church, onced out, the coffin has been settled in the middle and all around the people were sitting down next to it. His dad and daughter in front, it was like if we were waiting for Marco to jump out the coffin that was Marco full of life, jokes. One of the last to speak said " Marco is not dead this is only one of his tricks, because today Marco will leave with us in our hearts and it will stay there always" One of the many poster said: Marco you will teach the Angels to skid now...."
Marco I am not saying goodbye to you because i believe you will still ride from up there, all I can say using the words of his mum " thanks for all the things you gave us " see you soon!

Ciao Marco e grazie

Maura and all the Britts fans that come every summer to the motogp

ITALIA! Letter of the month winner!

A GEM IN CATTOLICA !

My daughter and I have been reading your magazine for some time now, and

while it's lovely to hear about places off the beaten track, I feel you could do well to do a few articles on the " typical" Italian destinations.
I have visited Italy many times since 1970 when I first fell in love with the country as a student. I have been fortunate enough to stay in varius regions, from the mountins of Abruzzo in the south to venice in the north, and many places in between.
A few years ago we have stumbled on a family-owned hotel in the beautiful town of Cattolica, and after a memorable stay we have returned every year since and never been disappointed. Hotel Senior is owned and run by Maura Cilla, who was born to be a hotelier! It is truly a home from home, staff are plesant and nothing is too much trouble. The whole place is spotless and every effort is made to ensure guests have a good time.
You can dine on home baked bread, beautiful pasta dishes and scampi salad like you 've never tasted. Each time we visit we come back eavier!
Cattolica itself has much to offer, especially for a family holiday. The beach here is immaculate, with every facility you could wish for, and shops and markets abound. Bus and rail travel is cheap and punctual, and there are many places to visit in the area- Pesaro, Riccione, Gradara, San Marino to name but a few. So, to any new readers, who have toyed with the idea of going to Italy, or any regular readers who would like a super but inexpensive break, I'd say consider Cattolica and Maura Cilla's gem of a hotel. You won't be disappointed and i guarantee that if you visit the adriatic coast you will return here.

JIMBO " a great man"

"JIMBO" was his nick name, just right for him... his name was Jim, and he and his lovely family have been coming to my hotel for the past few years now, twice a year. Unfortunatelly this summer suddenly Jimbo has left us, and I though that because he has honestly gave me so much as a person, even though we couldn't spend hours chatting due as well to his ilness,we could understand each other perfectly the "looks" were enough, and Jimbo as a human beeing was a" must" to remeber. He loved Cattolica, especially coming to the Senior, having a witty little chat with me, I used to ply with him because when it was the time to go out he had to use a wheelchair, so I used to say to him to take me for a ride in his beautiful Ferrari. He had a great sense of humor, very dry which it was coming out at the right time, spot on. Jimbo was a real gentlemen, he used to like singing very good too, or whistling. I only have good memories of Jimbo, his family has sent me a beautiful and so unique picture of him when we have the famous " NOTTE ROSA" which I will attach. Jimbo will be always part of the Hotel Senior, there is not a day I go without thinking of a phrase he said, a smile, anything. Mum had a mass for Jim when Paula and Eve told me he passed away, and when the priest said this mass today is speacially for JIMBO ( that is the name I wanted) I really felt honored to have met such a special person, with great values and morals. All i can say is that you are always here, you never left and I mean this Jimbo. Keep an eye on us from up there, I know you are doing it already.

IT'S ME THE HOTEL SENIOR BORN IN 1960 (look at the original pics"

I was bornb in 1964, by the hand of the great architecture Luigi Filippini, well known for his skills, honesty and creativity of course.
I have born beautiful, tastefully with a touch of sofistication, I was a real diamond and everybody was coming to visit me. Born between huge debts, without many helps, we have had to struggle for 20 long years. Among sufferences and exhausting work we have made it trough. Our job was carried out for the majority with english clientele which we are always very gratefull to because with their affection, love, coming back year after year, their gratitude, they have loved us very much and still now of course, we have learnt so much from them : education, accuracy, punctuality, politeness, honesty on selling our product for what it was without pumping it of things not necessary. Truthness only that!
Unfortunately life reserves some surprises and not always happy ones, which we had to face, we were forced to rent the hotel (different point of views in the families). It has not been an happy solution, actually a real catastrophic one. We have jumped back in again from 2006 (after 4 years of missing ) and with a lot of patience and courage, we have started everything from scratch all over agian!!!
Now the english are back, the italians too, and even our finnish customers are coming back with us! So now in the all of this multicultural cosmopolitan style of life of these beautiful people we start sailing again together !

Thanks to everybody

Ines (Maura's mum)

ANGELA'S BIRTHDAY AT THE HOTEL SENIOR

At the Hotel Senior we celebrate anything that we like....Angela's birthday was one of these magic moments!!!
It is so lovely when customers such as friends do come back year after year several times during the summer to cherish together important moments. It was a big surprise for Angela, because yes she did know she was coming over in August to celebrate her 60's (she looks so young very charming lady) but what she did not know that her sister Linda planned to come over for a few days on her birthday without telling her, it was all planned from winter she emailed me asking to organise it and keep the secret because Angela was coming to Cattolica in June as well..... so I felt like 007 on a mission!
Another big surprise for Angela was that her lovely daughter Sarah told me that her brother Andrew might arrange to come over for a few days too, of course Angela did not have any idea at all!!!!! You can immagine the shock of joy when one by one the family started to appear !!!! It was awsome!
Well all went well, lovely time together lovely pics which I will attach here, my chef Tatiana made a beautiful cake for Angela and the family as well all the deco we had for her pics all over the hotel which Linda very carefully tagged to the walls of all the hotel, toilets included.... really funny and nice!!!!
Buon Compleanno Angela, one that you will never forget!!!! I bet that!

All our love from the gang of the Hotel Senior !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wedding at the Hotel Senior Cattolica !

The Hotel Senior is an hotel that lives toger every important event of your life,we have customers who have celebrated their birthday, anniversaries, honeymoons which we like to share and treasure together. One of these moments, I should have to say one of the top moments was when two of customers decided to get married in Cattolica on the Adriatic Coast at the Hotel Senior! Lisa who has come for many years at the Senior with her lovely parents Mel & John since she was little has made the decision to marry here with us, her italian family like we say. We had to start early with the organisation because of  the documents we needed from all the different embassies. I personally went to book in our council the room for the wedding, the month that Lisa has chosen for the wedding was September, hot but not too hot. Together with her parents (and little Clark of course) we decided the cake, the food for after the wedding, and the party night. Her wedding dress arrived on special delivery to the hotel which we kept for her until the D day! I was the ufficial translater of the wedding, at the cerimony at the council, I was so nervous and so happy for her and the family. The wedding was set for 11 o'clock, so the morning preparation at the hotel was quite hectic for everybody. The council of Cattolica is a very antique and picturesque place, there was a long stair which was leading to the wedding room. Lisa and the dress were perfect, John Lisa's dad was so proud of her, and Mel could not be of any less, very smart all in blue. It was really a special, unique day. Once the cerimony was finished the couple went to have their picture taken with families and friends, I went back to the hotel to check that the food was all prept and ready for when they were back. Then menĂ¹ was all based on a typical italian food from our region, piadina, suckling pig, pasta of course, different type of finger food, special food for children, wine and a "Rossini cake" .......and much more! On a special day like that one, the sun was shining and during the afternoon people enjoyed time by the pool especially kids. After dinner the party started again for Simon and Lisa, the march was playing for them, music, live singing was really nice, everybody stepped into the party and had a good time, one of those moments which you do not forget.
Now after 2 years they come back to visit Cattolica and stay with us, when they were here on the wedding day clark was the only kid now Cara has arrived and she has been conceed when they were here for the wedding .....so this is really lovely! During winter time Clark the eldest and Cara of course always asks the parents when they are coming back to the italian home, things like that are the ones to be cherished for life.
I have attached some of the picture which have been taken on their wedding day!!!!
